At the beginning of September a panel of judges will decide who goes through in each of the 10 categories (max five finalists per category) to the next round and the chance of winning an award.
A list of the chosen finalists, with a write-up about each of them, will appear in the Express & Star and online. Readers can then vote for the person in each category who they think deserves to win by cutting out special tokens published in the newspaper. The voting tokens will appear in the Express & Star from October 6 until November 5 and readers can collect as many as they like. The winner will be the person with the most votes.
The chosen finalists, along with a selected number of guests, will be invited to an awards event being held at Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club on Thursday, January 19, 2017. The winner in each of the 10 categories will be announced during the course of this very special evening.
Closing date for nominations is midnight Sunday, August 21 2016. Proposers must be aged 18 or over. All nominees’ contact information must be provided. You should tell your nominee that you are putting their name forward. If the nominee is under 16 years old, you must inform their parent/guardian and confirm you have done so by clicking the tick box on the form. All MNA employees and their immediate families are excluded. Sponsors and their immediate families may not enter their own category. Nominees should be living or working in the Black Country or South Staffordshire. If making more than one nomination, you will need to submit separate forms. All proposers and nominees must be prepared to take part in any relevant publicity, including photographic coverage, in print and online. Information (excluding contact details) on the person you are nominating will be used in-paper and online. The winner of each category will receive a special prize and there is no cash alternative. If there is a voting tie in any category, a judging panel will choose the outright winner. The Editor’s decision is final.
